a female Northern Flicker whose family of three lives close by in my neighbourhood ...
The Northern Flicker (Colaptes auratus) or common flicker is a medium-sized bird of the woodpecker family. It is native to most of North America, parts of Central America, Cuba, and the Cayman Islands, and is one of the few woodpecker species that migrate.

I have never seen such a species of bird, but it's no wonder. They don't live in Europe. A superb capture in warm light. We also feed the birds during the winter and help them to survive the cold season.
